Want to know who I am and why I decided to create a website?  You’ve come to the right place.

My name is Shannon and I live in a small town in West Virginia.  I am a Christian, a wife and a mother of two busy toddlers.  I am a member of The First Advent Christian Church of Charleston in Charleston, WV, where my husband is also the Pastor. If you would like to visit my church, we are located at 615 Randolph Street in downtown Charleston.

You can find out more about our denomination at

Generally Speaking…

My favorite hobbies are playing the piano, singing, reading, crocheting, and baking bread, but my favorite way to spend the day is taking time with my husband and little girls.  I feel that God has truly blessed me with a wonderful family and I want to take advantage of each moment I have with them.

I was born with glaucoma, cataracts and scar tissue.  I had enough vision in my left eye to read with a device called a CCTV until I was about seven years old.  I was taught to read Braille at an early age and learned to type by the time I was eight.  By the time I had graduated from High School, I could only see black and white and a few brighter colors.  I lost the remainder of my vision not long after I was married in 2000.

In 1998 I went to The Seeing Eye and received my first and only guide dog.  We  worked very well together for eight years. He was not only a wonderful companion, but he led me through thick and thin.  I had to retire him in August 2006 due to many reasons, but I wouldn’t trade one moment with him.  Sadly, In February 2007, George, the best dog ever past away, suddenly, but I will always remember the wonderful times we had together.  If you or someone you know would like to know more about The Seeing Eye, I have posted a link to their website on my “sites of interest” page.

My Walk with the Lord

My mom took me to church for the first time when I was only three days old, and I have been going pretty much ever since.  I use to stand right next to my grandmother during the congregational singing, and from her, learned to sing alto.  Mom bought me my first keyboard when I was just a small child, and purchased a used piano when I was thirteen.  I took a handful of lessons, but mostly taught myself to play.

One year, 1992 to be exact, I attended a church camp, Camp Whitney in Clendenin, WV, where I asked Jesus in to my heart.  He forgave my sins, cleaned me up on the inside, and filled me with his Holy Spirit.  Since then, I have never been the same.  God has taught me many things over the years, and one of the most important lesson has been and still is that I have a lot more to learn.  To quote the children’s song, “He’s still working on me to make me what I ought to be.  It took him just a week to make the moon and the stars, the sun and the earth and Jupiter and Mars.  How loving and patient he must be; he’s still working on me.”

One of the reasons I decided to create this site is that I wanted to be able to reach people from around the world with the message of Jesus Christ.  I want others to know that being a Christian is not dull or boring, but “joy unspeakable and full of glory.”  My life has never been more exciting than it is now.  Also, I wanted to be able to reach those who are blind or partially sighted with the message that there is hope; you do not have to be a couch potato for the rest of your life.  So, whether you are one of us who are blind or partially sighted, or a relative of someone who is, I hope that the information on my site will help make your homes and lives richer and fuller with each passing day.

I hope you will email me with any questions or concerns about this site.  If you wish, you can email me with prayer requests, as well.  I will be glad to bring your requests to the Lord in prayer.

 Sincerely,

  Shannon
